Sail through History

The true gem of our fleet is the Blue Mist, a truly stunning cruising vessel that is over one hundred years old. To this day, she still turns heads just as much as she did when she was first launched. She enjoys her semi-retirement in the calm, warm waters of the Keys as a pleasure cruiser; still delighting everyone who sets food aboard her beautiful deck.

Blue Mist was originally built in 1917 on the banks of the Harlem River in Morris Heights, NY, by the Charles L. Seabury Co., a prominent yacht builder at the time, and the Gas Engines & Power Co. She was better known in those days as a ‘Speedway,’ after those two companies merged several years later.

Since her birth, she was used as a private family yacht and then as a U.S. Coast Guard patrol boat. Her long history has seen her go through many restorations and renovations, yet she has still managed to retain her gleaming original wood paneling, pilothouse, and salon. She has most recently been modernized to accommodate all the creature comforts found aboard modern cruising vessels, and the forward cabin has been completely redesigned to make the accommodations comfortable for a live aboard couple such as adding reverse cycle air conditioning, refrigeration, a generator, hot water, and a shower.

Make the Blue Mist the highlight of your trip with a private charter; we offer sunset and cocktail cruises around Islamorada, where the sun reflecting off the brilliant waters of the ocean serves to accentuate her gleaming bronze hardware, copper fittings, and mahogany decks, and experience for yourself why she is affectionately called the Crown Jewel of Casa Morada.
